“Late Show” host David Letterman is known for asking blunt questions, no matter how uncomfortable they are and how famous his guests may be. But for Jennifer Lawrence’s first large TV interview since the celebrity photo hacking incident that captivated the world, this individual stuck to very safe topics.
And, actually, incredibly weird topics. When you have never seen Lawrence and Letterman interact, they are genuinely hilarious together as well as Wednesday night was no different. The interview - to promote the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1″ - quickly devolved into craziness when it was established that Lawrence was on antibiotics and Letterman was in the goofy mood.
Among subjects covered:
* A long, disjointed story about how Lawrence met her best friend, who blurted out two very inappropriate sentences the very first time they met. She whispered them to Letterman, who confirmed she couldn’t remain it on air.
* Colonics. Or, as Lawrence put it when the girl talked about wanting to get the procedure done with her pal Josh (presumably co-star Josh Hutcherson), “platonic colonics. ”
* An insane tale about the time Lawrence frequented her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult, while he was filming a movie in Namibia as well as she thought his house was haunted. (“Of course I do, I believe within anything unrealistic, ” she assured Letterman when he asked if she supported ghosts. )
* The fact that this tabloid interview with her grandma (about exactly how Lawrence’s rumored boyfriend Chris Martin was going to spend Christmas in Kentucky using the family) was fake.
* Letterman’s retirement, which Lawrence reminded him would definitely be incredibly boring and he should just keep hosting TV until this individual dies.
Then, the interview ended in the best way possible: A technical malfunction because Letterman tried to do a bit about how the “Mockingjay” trailer reminded him associated with bowling. He got so annoyed that he and Lawrence ended up walking away stage together. When the show came back from commercial break, Lawrence was at the actual host’s desk with no Letterman in sight.
Anyway, as far as her photos being thieved, it appears Lawrence said everything she wants to say in that Vanity Fair include story - barring the unlikely occasion that she discusses it whenever she stops by “The Colbert Report” on Thursday for her next late-night interview.
We’ll update with the full video of the Letterman interview when it receives, because you really just have to watch it (especially the ending). For now, here’s the clip of Letterman trying to trick J-Law into singing, which winds in a strange duet of them both belting out “Have a Holly Jolly Xmas. ”
