T Magazine: The Plaster Master

The Plaster Master

Bradley Clifford

“Sexed-up Greco-Roman” is how George Sellers describes his latest collection of furniture, lighting and peculiar objects. The Dallas-based sculptor, who started his career apprenticing with a master stone carver in Italy, works almost exclusively with the underappreciated medium of plaster. “We study the frescoes and paintings on ceilings, but look right past the incredible moldings,” says Sellers, whose seductive, gothic pieces — an alabaster snake coiled around the base of a lamp, tables with branchlike legs so angular they look arthritic — are available exclusively at Flair, a high-end design shop in New York, next month. From $400, flairhomecollection.comsite
