Jeremy Scott sent Barbie down the runway in his spring/summer 2015 Moschino collection today. Even without the clothes, the beauty look alone — long, bouncy hair and bright pink lips — was enough to immediately conjure up Mattel’s classic doll. Backstage, the makeup artist Lucia Pieroni explained that she even wanted the models’ skin to look “like a luxury plastic, but elegant.” A touch of M.A.C. Mineralize Skinfinish added what she called a “waxy-gloss” touch to the cheekbones. And of course no Barbie look would be complete without a little bit of artifice: two kinds of false lashes on each girl, one short (for depth) and one long, Pieroni explained, “for extra fluffiness.”
