Spring 2015 Trend Alert: Fresh Takes on Denim

Sometimes even classics need a freshener.
See, for example, the Spring-Summer 2015 runways where denim made quite the splash. The classic textile turned up looking refreshed in new and creative silhouettes.
Christopher Bailey kicked off his Burberry Prorsum show in London by sending a fluted denim jacket with shearling accents paired with a paillette-embellished pencil skirt down the runway. The architectural shape of the fitted jacket breathed new life into the American classic. Over in Milan, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana incorporated several pairs of over-the-top bedazzled jeans in their Dolce & Gabbana line up. The key was the balance between the relaxed, almost-boyfriend fit and flashy embellishments. And at Gucci, Frida Giannini sprinkled her collection with multiple denim pieces. There were wide-cut crops (that also had a boyfriend fit vibe), military-inspired jackets and glam lace-up dresses. There was also an ultra-tailored shirt dress look that really put the luxe into the material.
It didn’t stop there. Denim also popped up on the Michael Kors, Roberto Cavalli, and Tommy Hilfiger runway. Needless to say, come spring, you’ll stay true to your blues—but maybe you’ll embrace new silhouettes and lavish details.
