Influenced by a ballerina pirouetting in a jewelry box — a place made by the dancer at the show's entrance — Monique Lhuillier sent out a tight lineup of princess and loud gowns heavy on tulle, beading and Chantilly ribbons. The ready-to-wear looks that opened the show had been elegant, particularly the cropped top with a crisscross back and the tea-length skirt. Shades of lavender, peach, gold and great were a nice break with tradition, and added to the actual designer's fairy-tale vision.
