On the weekend, a star-studded crowd gathered in the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Carousel of Wish Ball to raise funds for clinical treatment and research at the Barbara Davis Middle for Diabetes.
The evening kicked away with cocktails and a silent auction because guests-including Kat Dennings, Anjelica Huston, Diane Keaton, Bellamy Young, Candace Cameron Bure, Karina Smirnoff, Larry King, Raquel Welch, and Suzanne Somers-mixed and mingled prior to Magic Johnson received the prestigious Metal Ring Award for his various relief efforts. “The work that the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes is doing is incredible, ” Johnson tells InStyle. “They’re preserving a lot of people’s lives. It’s just a benefit to be recognized. ”

Later, attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner in the carousel-themed ballroom as well as the comedic stylings of the event’s host, Jay Leno, before the real the highlight-performances from Jennifer Hudson, Josh Groban, and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. “If I could perform in a hoodie as well as Converse, I really, really would, but the tux is more suitable for this amazing event, ” Groban says. “Tonight during my performance, I needed to do a mix of stuff that I thought would be befitting the message of the evening, which is to increase funds and awareness for this incredible trigger. ”
