Isabelle Armstrong was channeling Grace Kelly, though less the Hollywood icon and more the regal princess she became after marrying into Monaco’s Grimaldi family. The designer imagined her hosting a soiree at Monte Carlo’s Hotel Metropole, and so for fall she worked an array of silhouettes — from full ballgowns fit for a Disney queen to sheaths, as well as chic mermaid and draped silk numbers, many with French lace, embroidery and floral appliqué details. If some of the more voluminous looks were cumbersome, the simpler shapes provided a light and refreshing counterpoint.
