Go Purple for GLAAD’s Spirit Day with 11 of Our Favorite Aubergine Pieces!

Right now is Spirit Day, which means millions of people will wear purple to stand against violence and show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) childhood. Observed annually since 2010, the color purple was chosen because it symbolizes “spirit” on the rainbow flag.

Want to show your support for the cause? Read on for tips on how to pull off the color, and then shop our favorite picks in the aubergine hue.

Why Many of us Love It: Long associated with royals and riches, this deeper take on purple can add a mysterious allure to your wardrobe. Given its romantic and sophisticated mother nature, this intense purple hue lends an air of luxury to any attire. Plus, unlike its cooler violet brethren, its warmth flatters every complexion.

How To Wear It: Like navy, it’s subtle enough to function a neutral. Consider it for a coat like the Dolce & Gabbana pictured earlier mentioned (above, right). As Dominco Dolce, co-designer of Dolce & Gabbana, makes certain, “This color is bold and sensual. ” If that’s too much of dedication, swap a LBD for a chic aubergine cocktail dress, such as this one displayed on the Giambattista Valli runway (above, left).

Don’t forget to share your pink ensembles on social media with #SpiritDay! For more information on Spirit Day and to see you can get involved, visit glaad. org.
