Vintage shopping is fun in theory, but the reality can be frustrating—to say the least. We’ve all been there: Combing racks upon racks of secondhand finds for hours on end before finding that one precious piece, and then shortly after realizing that it feels a little loose in the thigh, or hugs all the wrong places. Thanks to Shop Hers, we may miraculously be spared from this oft-shameful retail experience. The e-commerce site for pre-owned designer goods has just rolled out its very own mobile app, complete with a brand-new feature that allows you to match up with someone who shares your measurements and designer preferences (dubbed your “Style Soulmate”) so you can find the perfect fit. It’s like being bestowed with an uber-chic grandma that just so happens to be your size and has a closet chock-full of your favorite labels for the taking.

Founder Jaclyn Shanfeld dreamed up the idea out of her own personal shopping frustrations. “Unfortunately a 4 in Diane von Furstenberg is not a 4 in Theory,” she told InStyle. “Even within one season, a designer can cut garments differently.” With Style Soulmates, you can shop by size, and even negotiate prices and discuss styling choices, if you so desire.The way the app works is simple: First, you log in and create a user name, then you head to the field on the app’s main menu marked “Style Soulmates.” After you enter your various measurements (shoe, height, bust, cup, waist, etc.), you’re then directed to a page where you can discover other users’ closets and shop them directly, all from the convenience of your smartphone. What’s more, the app even pings you when merch you drops in price or is posted to another user’s closet. On the opposite end, selling is just as easy. All you need to do is snap a quick selfie, list the brand info and description, and—voilà!—more cash to foster your imminent high-end consignment shopping habit. In the near future, Shanfeld says, she hopes to further simplify online negotiating with a “Make An Offer” feature and a “Wish List,” which will allow users to list items they’re on the hunt for so sellers can look into their own closets with a buyer in mind.
