“The color black does not make mistakes,” said Caroline de Maigret, model and muse, in an interview for “How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are,” 

Whilst it’s no secret that inky tones in no way go out of fashion, her advice - and some gems in the book - is really a reminder that when in doubt, go back to dark. Here are some smart investments to help pull off the head-to-toe dark look.

Coats Offer Perfect Regards For the Season


At Vetements, a good intriguing new French label from a group of designers who once worked within the design department of Maison Martin Margiela, strong basics speak for themselves. A leather-based tracksuit jacket, an oversize trench as well as leather pants with an uneven hem recommend a woman averse to trends. Other jackets, classic but with a smack of personality, include this saucy wool cape through Samantha Pleet and Alexander Wang’s puffer with neon cuffs. Remember: In winter it is all about the coat.
