There is one thing most designers recognise when devising cycling kit: crotch matters, but it should never be aesthetically emphasised. That’s why discreetly padded anti-chafing tights fly off the shelves at Evans, while Levi’s specialist Commuter range features subtly reinforced bottoms. The creator of uniforms for Colombia’s women’s cycling team, however, has no time for bourgeois style rules, choosing to highlight the team’s groins in a fabric that makes them look nude.
What, exactly, was on the mood board here? Sports luxe? The crop-top trend? An unwanted, half-dressed Barbie doll, hanging out of a bin? This is a terrible amalgamation of all of those references, and worse – a naked crime of fashion.
